About Us
Welcome to MDR Quantum
Our Mission
Why we exist
To provide expert, independent and accessible advice on quantum technology — for everyone who needs to understand it, regardless of their technical background.
Quantum technology has passed the point of being a distant theoretical concern. Hardware platforms are maturing, governments around the world are committing serious funding, and international standards bodies have already published post-quantum cryptography standards. The first real-world implications — particularly for cryptographic security — are landing on the desks of risk and technology leaders right now.
Yet the conversation most organisations are hearing is too often shaped by the people trying to sell them something. Vendor briefings overstate readiness. Headlines oscillate between breathless excitement and unfounded alarm. And the genuine complexity of the underlying science makes it easy to mislead — whether intentionally or not.
MDR Quantum was founded to provide the counterweight: rigorous, independent and accessible guidance that helps organisations cut through the noise and make decisions they can stand behind. We are not here to sell you a quantum product or steer you toward a particular vendor. We are here to help you understand what is real, what is relevant to your organisation, and what you should actually be doing about it.

Rajiv Shah
Founder and principal consultant
Rajiv is one of Australia’s leading independent voices on quantum technology. He brings a rare combination of deep scientific training and decades of real-world technology and security leadership — giving him the ability to engage at every level, from a board of directors to a room full of engineers.
Holding a PhD in quantum physics, Rajiv spent the early part of his career at the frontier of the science before moving into IT and cybersecurity, where he spent nearly 30 years advising organisations on complex technology risk and strategy. That journey — from the physics lab to the boardroom — is precisely what makes his perspective so distinctive.
He is a regular speaker at major Australian and international conferences including CyberCon, MILCIS, BSides Canberra, and Quantum Australia, and is the author of the MDR Quantum Substack, which provides independent, plain-language analysis of developments in the quantum technology landscape.
Rajiv’s guiding belief is simple: you don’t need to understand quantum mechanics to make good decisions about quantum technology — but you do need someone you can trust to translate it for you.
Let’s talk about what quantum technology means for your organisation
Whether you’re starting from scratch or looking to pressure-test an existing plan, we’d welcome the conversation.
