In March 2026, MDR Quantum was invited to present at the Critical Infrastructure Security Summit, organised by the Australian Department of Home Affairs. The audience was over 300 leaders of critical infrastructure organisations and the challenge was to explain quantum technology to them in 10 minutes after lunch.
The 30 second version was that quantum technology could undermine some but not all of the cyber security assumptions they rely upon. It’s important to ignore the predictions of an impending apocalypse, but also that say it will never happen. Instead, go back to the basics of risk management – assess what is at risk, prioritise, and plan your response.
The talk was well-received, with many attendees saying it was the first time they had really understood quantum. Apparently some of the graphics helped perk up the audience as well!
